Are you working on a full-length book?

Be part of the FAWWA’s 75th Anniversary celebrations in 2013 and advance your writing through mentoring over 6 months by one of WA’s leading writers.

The program includes 8 writers, working in 5 different genres, including Vivienne Glance, Liliana Stafford, Juliet Marilliet, Lucy Dougan, Shane McCauley, Bridget Lowry, Diane Wolfer, and Pat Lowe.

To be included in the application: -Letter of application, including preferred mentor
Synopsis of work in progress, with additional information itemizing time already spent on the work, number of pages completed
5 pages from the work
Current CVApplication criteria:(i) Applicants will not have had a book published by a registered publisher;
(ii) Be domiciled in the Perth Metropolitan region for the duration of the mentorship or in northwest or Great-Southern regional centres;
(iii) Applicants will become members of the Fellowship of Australian Writers (WA);
(iv) The charge to Mentees will be $400 each. This can be paid in installments over the 6 months.
Process:
The submitted work of the authors will be ranked by a selection panel, which includes at least one of the mentors, one executive member of the FAWWA and one other professional writer;
(i) A minimum of two of the eight selected mentees will be working in the field of young adult or children’s fiction;
(ii) At least two will be aged 35 or under;
(iii) Applicants will only be chosen where they are writing in genres which are within the professional competency of the available mentors;
(iv) Final selection of mentees to be subject to their acceptability to the nominated mentor and vice versa;
(v) The mentors will meet with the authors at least 6 times during the 6 month program for one or two hours.Funding from the Department for Culture and the Arts supports this program.
