Morning Workshop: 10am – 1pm

Thomas Campion (1567-1620) said that poetry is ‘a system of linked sounds’. Dylan Thomas said he wrote for the ear. This workshop is an approachable, hands-on look at rhythm and meter in English-language poetry, presented by a poet who balances on the fence between free verse and formalism, fearlessly stealing any style she fancies, from Beowulf to Bukowski and beyond. We’ll look at both classic and contemporary poetry and do some writing experiments.

The workshop is suitable for poets with some experience and for lovers of poetry who want to have a go at writing their own.

Includes morning tea.

Bring your lunch and stay for the readings.

Readings and discussion: 2-4pm. All welcome!

Open readings – bring poems

Workshop poets read their poems
